Monument to Ali Khamenei in the form of a clenched fist installed in Iran
A monument in the form of a raised fist of the deceased supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei has been installed on Enghelab Square in Tehran.
Posters with the same symbol have been placed throughout the city. Among them are banners with portraits of Khamenei and other military and political figures of the Islamic Republic who died as a result of attacks by the United States and Israel. People in the squares are being given Iranian flags, and the streets are crowded.
Despite the nationwide holidays declared in connection with mourning for the supreme leader, some stores continue to operate in the capital, street trading continues, and some cafes are open.
Farewell to Khamenei, who died as a result of American and Israeli strikes, began earlier in Tehran. On Friday, high-ranking delegations from at least 100 countries are taking part in the mourning event. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev came from Russia to bid farewell to Khamenei. From July 4 to 5, the body of the deceased leader will be at Mosalla Tehran (the largest religious and public complex in the Iranian capital), where anyone can say goodbye to him. On July 6, a mourning procession will take place in Tehran along the main streets, after which the body will be delivered to the main religious center of the country - the city of Qom, where mourning ceremonies will be held on July 7. On July 8, Khamenei's body will be sent to neighboring Iraq, where separate farewell ceremonies will be organized for local Shiite Muslims in Karbala and Najaf. The burial will take place on July 9 in his hometown of Mashhad.
