"There will be rallies and street fighting": Armenian opposition on plans

A number of opposition forces are preparing to hold rallies with the demand for a change of power.

This was stated by deputy of the parliamentary faction "Armenia" Ishkhan Sagatelyan, Sputnik Armenia reports.

"Against this government, which has no 'red lines,' a coordinated struggle of all opposition forces and public figures is necessary. If such unification had been achieved over the past six years, the situation in the country would be different today," Sagatelyan said.

According to him, the main responsibility for consolidation lies with the largest opposition political forces. He noted that it is necessary to determine which political forces are ready for decisive actions, develop a joint roadmap, and begin its implementation.

Sagatelyan stated that there is already an understanding in the opposition of the need for consolidation. Currently, according to him, the timing and mechanisms of joint actions aimed at changing power are being discussed.

At the same time, the deputy expressed the opinion that pressure on the opponents of the authorities will intensify.

"In the near future, people with national thinking will be subjected to persecution, since they do not serve the Turkish-Azerbaijani agenda," he stated.

On July 4, the Constitutional Court of Armenia rejected the appeals of opposition forces and upheld the decision of the CEC on the results of the parliamentary elections in the country. After that, two opposition blocs – "Armenia" and "Strong Armenia", which, among other forces, challenged the voting results in the Constitutional Court, stated that they would take their mandates and continue the struggle in parliament.

Following the announcement of the Constitutional Court's decision, five opposition forces - "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia", as well as the parties "Prosperous Armenia", "Armenian National Congress" and "National Democratic Pole", issued a joint statement, noting that the verdict of the Constitutional Court is not the end of the struggle, but a new stage of more coordinated and large-scale resistance.
