Media: Turkish intelligence services did not detect signs of preparation for an assassination attempt on Trump
Turkish intelligence services did not detect signs that an assassination attempt was being prepared on U.S. President Donald Trump during his visit to Ankara to participate in the NATO summit July 7-8.
This was reported by the Axios portal, citing sources.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and a number of Israeli media reported that the intelligence services of the Jewish state had transmitted information to the U.S. about Iran's alleged preparation of an assassination attempt on Trump in Ankara.
As Axios notes, information about the threat of an assassination attempt in Ankara was also transmitted to Turkish intelligence services. After checking all the circumstances, Turkish intelligence services concluded that no preparations were being made for an assassination attempt on Trump.
Nevertheless, as Axios points out, the message from the Israeli side prompted American intelligence services to take additional security measures to protect the U.S. president. In particular, the information received was the reason for replacing Trump's plane when departing from Turkey. Later, WSJ, citing sources, reported that American officials did not consider the information received from Israel about the threat of an assassination attempt on Trump by Tehran to be fully convincing.
