Iran opens Strait of Hormuz for ship passage
Iran is opening the Strait of Hormuz for ship passage for two weeks, with transit possible through coordination with Iranian armed forces and subject to technical limitations, stated Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
"For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible through coordination with Iranian armed forces and subject to technical limitations," reads the statement published by the minister on his official page on the social network X.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his agreement to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks and assured that the ceasefire would be bilateral. Subsequently, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated that Tehran would begin negotiations with the U.S. on Friday, April 10, in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad.
According to the Iranian Security Council, the points of the proposal agreed upon by the U.S. include provisions for maintaining Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, lifting all sanctions on Tehran, continuing uranium enrichment by the Islamic Republic, and the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from the Middle East.
