First ships cross the Strait of Hormuz after ceasefire announcement
The first ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman on the morning of April 8 after the announcement of a temporary ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran.
This was reported by the ship tracking service MarineTraffic.
According to the service, the Greek bulk carrier NJ Earth crossed the strait at 08:44 UTC (11:24 Moscow time) and is currently in the Gulf of Oman. The vessel Daytona Beach, flying the flag of Liberia, departed from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and transited the strait at 06:59 UTC (09:59 Moscow time).
The service's report also notes that there are currently several hundred ships in the Persian Gulf, including 426 tankers and more than 50 gas carriers.
