Ukraine and Germany sign defense agreement
Berlin and Kyiv have signed a defense cooperation agreement and a memorandum of understanding.
This was reported by Reuters, citing the office of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
It is specified that the signing took place during a working visit by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Berlin, which was part of extensive consultations between the governments of Germany and Ukraine.
At the same time, Merz had previously stated that Ukraine no longer needs German long-range Taurus missiles, as it has developed its own alternative. However, as the German Chancellor noted, Ukraine is facing funding issues, so additional weapons at the moment 'do not solve the problem.'
Prior to this, Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held a phone conversation with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, during which the parties discussed joint projects, including prospects for cooperation in the field of laser weapons. The sides also discussed strengthening air defense systems and additional funding for the production of long-range drones.
