Should not engage in censorship: Pashinyan on Zelensky's statements at the EPS summit
Armenian authorities in their capacity as the host country leader should not engage in censorship or necessarily react to everything.
This was stated to journalists by the prime ministerial candidate from the ruling Civil Contract party Nikol Pashinyan during a campaign event in Yerevan's Erebuni district, commenting on Zelensky's remarks addressed to Moscow at the EPS summit in Yerevan, Armenian media reported.
"The European Political Community summit is a multilateral platform, and the venue does not matter. This event is as much mine as it is that of our other partners.
There have been cases when, in my presence, the president of Russia made statements regarding various countries, but I do not recall anyone expecting a reaction from me to those statements," he said.
He emphasized that Armenia is a member of the European Political Community and the EAEU, but this does not mean it claims to interfere in all global processes.
"Sorry, but we are a small country with our own small agenda," he noted.
Earlier, Pashinyan stated that Armenia is not Russia's ally on the Ukrainian issue.
Recall that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that "Yerevan broke its promise not to take steps against Russia, and the silence of Western leaders and the Armenian side regarding Zelensky's threats against Great Patriotic War veterans, voiced at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, has already been entered into the historical annals." She added that the current foreign policy course of the Armenian authorities will sooner or later lead to Armenia's irreversible involvement in Brussels' anti-Russian line.
According to her, such a scenario will have political and economic consequences for Armenia.
