NYT: Iran restored missile bases after US strikes
Iran has restored operational access to 30 of its 33 missile bases along the Strait of Hormuz, as well as approximately 90% of its underground storage facilities and missile launchers throughout the country.
The New York Times reports, citing U.S. intelligence data, that Iran thus continues to retain a significant portion of its missile potential, despite public statements from the White House and the Pentagon that the Iranian army was "destroyed."
According to intelligence assessments, Iran still possesses about 70% of its mobile launchers and approximately 70% of its pre-war stock of ballistic and cruise missiles. At the same time, the U.S. has limited the use of bunker-buster bombs to preserve stocks in case of potential future conflicts.
White House Press Secretary Olivia Wales denied suggestions that the Islamic Republic had restored the damage inflicted on its military capabilities. According to her, Iran understands that its "current reality is unsustainable." She also stated that anyone who "thinks that Iran has restored its army is either mistaken or is a mouthpiece for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."
