The death toll from the powerful landslide and flooding in Nepal has reached 1,344.

This was reported by the Nepalese police.

Earlier, figures of 1,287 dead were cited, with more than 500 unidentified.
According to the Nepalese police, 4,898 people — Nepalese and foreigners — are listed as missing. The total number of missing foreigners is 698.

On August 26, a powerful flood occurred in northern Nepal. The natural disaster was caused by an avalanche on the border with China, approximately 20 km northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. The flow of rock traveled more than 70 km along the riverbed at enormous speed, destroying settlements and flooding a large area.
