Pashinyan assured that elections in Armenia will not be falsified
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a meeting with voters that the June parliamentary elections in the country will not be falsified.
According to him, the Armenian opposition has already stated that the Armenian authorities are holding a military parade in Yerevan on May 28 allegedly to bring troops into the city for their further use "in post-election processes" - to use force against opponents in case the current government loses in the June elections.
"What post-election processes are we talking about? There cannot be post-election processes in Armenia, you know why? Because pre-election processes happen where elections are falsified. Where elections are not falsified, there cannot be post-election processes a priori, and in Armenia elections are not falsified," Pashinyan stated at a meeting with voters during the election campaign.
Regular parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7. Applications for participation were submitted to the Central Election Commission of Armenia by 19 political forces. According to the list, 17 parties and 2 party blocs were to take part in the elections. However, one of the political forces withdrew and by decision of the CEC of May 26 withdrew from the election race. According to the Central Election Commission, the elections will also include the Civil Contract party headed by Pashinyan, as well as the Armenia (Hayastan) bloc headed by Robert Kocharyan and the Strong Armenia bloc headed by Narek Karapetyan. The Strong Armenia bloc established by businessman Samvel Karapetyan included the parties Strong Armenia, New Era and United Armenians.
On May 18, the CEC of Armenia reported that 120 representatives of the CIS will observe the parliamentary elections in the country. It was also stated that an observation mission from the ODIHR/OSCE and PACE would work.
