Witkoff: The U.S., Russia and Ukraine may announce a trilateral meeting soon
Following a meeting in Kyiv with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, the U.S. president's special envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the United States, Russia and Ukraine may soon announce talks in a trilateral format.
As 1news.az reports citing the Ukrainian press, the American delegate noted that the head of the White House, Donald Trump, instructed him and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to prepare a package of agreements to end the war.
"One thing that Steve [Witkoff] and I really thought would be productive is to return to the trilateral format, which we managed to do about six months ago. And we have spoken with both sides, so hopefully we will soon have progress on this," Kushner said.
According to him, during the meeting the parties discussed what the elements of a lasting peace should be and what Ukraine and Russia could gain from it.
Witkoff called the talks in Kyiv "important and substantive."
Earlier, a White House representative told Reuters that Witkoff and Kushner had discussed in Moscow "plans for further actions, which will be announced in the coming weeks."
