Kushner: Trump wants not just to end the war, but to create conditions for long-term peace in Ukraine

Future agreements as part of a settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict must rule out a new war and give Ukraine the opportunity to channel the strength and ingenuity it has shown over the years of war into the country's development.

As 1news.az reports citing UNIAN, this was stated by the representative and son-in-law of American leader Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, following the first round of talks in Kyiv.

"Trump wants not just to end the war, but to create conditions for long-term peace in Ukraine," he noted.

At the same time, the special envoy of the U.S. president, Steve Witkoff, called this conversation "very substantive."

"We are encouraged and ready to work further – for as long as it takes," he assured.

Let us note that on September 6, Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv to hold talks with the Ukrainian authorities. In addition to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the meeting is also attended by the head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service Rustem Umerov, and the chairman of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia.
