Antonelli wins Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix after starting 19th

Italian Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli has won the Italian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.

As 1news.az reports, the race was held at the Monza circuit.

Antonelli's teammate George Russell finished second, and Max Verstappen of Red Bull came in third.

Antonelli started from 19th position due to a planned engine change. He became the first Italian driver in 60 years to win his home Formula 1 race. The last time an Italian won at Monza was in 1966, when Ludovico Scarfiotti did it.

Following the victory, Antonelli has 267 points and continues to lead the overall standings. Russell is in second place with 201 points, and Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari is third with 191 points.

In the Constructors' Cup, Mercedes leads with 468 points, followed by Ferrari (346) and McLaren (285).
