Rubio calls expanding ties with Armenia a top priority for the US
The United States considers expanding bilateral relations with Armenia as one of the highest priorities in its foreign policy.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated this while speaking to journalists in Yerevan together with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
"Our relations do not end with this visit, we are building them up in many ways. And this is a top priority of the current administration," the head of the U.S. foreign policy department stated.
"President [U.S. President Donald Trump] is personally very proud of <...> everything we are doing, continuing to build up [cooperation]. And this will be an important part of the legacy of his second term as president," Rubio assured. According to him, extending the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the U.S. and Armenia is "an opportunity to outline the future <...> of bilateral relations," including creating new paths for the development of economic cooperation.
The head of American diplomacy arrived in Armenia as part of a foreign tour, during which he previously visited Sweden and India.
