Deaths of servicemen during exercises in Mangistau: investigation identifies suspects
The investigation into the deaths of servicemen during exercises in the Mangistau region is ongoing.
As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, the investigation has already identified the officials suspected of failing to properly ensure the safety of personnel and to organize rescue operations, vechastana.kz reports.
An inspection of the scene was carried out, more than 30 servicemen were questioned, and documentation and video materials were seized. Twelve forensic examinations have been ordered.
Officials have been identified who are suspected of negligence in the performance of their duties, as well as of failing to ensure oversight and to take the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of personnel in light of the weather conditions, and of improperly organizing rescue operations, which resulted in the deaths of people.
The investigation will provide a full legal assessment and take procedural measures against all suspects.
Today, Kazakhstan is observing a nationwide day of mourning in connection with the deaths of servicemen during exercises in Mangistau.
