Pashinyan promises compensation to farmers facing restrictions on exporting goods to Russia
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan promises subsidies to farmers who have encountered "unfair obstacles" for supplying products abroad in the context of Russian restrictions.
The prime minister stated during a pre-election meeting in Gegharkunik that the subsidies will be aimed at compensating for the losses incurred. At the same time, he acknowledged that there are cases when Armenian goods do not meet quality standards. These companies will also be provided assistance to improve quality.
He also spoke about alternative markets for selling Armenian goods. Several business delegations from Armenia are already conducting negotiations, and there are already proposals for purchasing roses and fruit and vegetable products from Armenia, the prime minister added. The volumes of agricultural products from Armenia are not very large, and in this case this is good – one decent European supermarket chain is capable of selling all this produce, Pashinyan assured.
As for problems in the EAEU, the prime minister stated that after the elections he will return to work and address their resolution.
Recall that on May 15 it became known that Rosselkhoznadzor intends to conduct inspections of a number of Armenian enterprises, including companies whose product supplies were previously suspended to Russia. The reason was suspicions of importing falsified fish products, presumably of European origin.
On May 21, the Armenian side reported that the Russian delegation had begun inspection checks of enterprises. On May 30, 2026, Rosselkhoznadzor introduced temporary restrictions on the import of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green crops, and strawberries from Armenia. The agency explained that the decision was made due to increased cases of violations in the supply of Armenian fruit and vegetable products to Russia and to ensure phytosanitary well-being.
