Musk and Altman back Anthropic chief's call to rein in AI development

Billionaire Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have supported the call by Anthropic head Dario Amodei on the need to slow down the development of artificial intelligence.

As 1news.az reports, Musk and Altman wrote about this on the social network X.

Earlier, Amodei published a policy essay in which he proposed a three-step plan to contain the race of AI systems. According to him, over the past months he has become convinced that the development of neural networks has accelerated so much that it could get out of control: if nothing is done, a swarm of AI agents will be able to "take over the entire internet" within the next 6-12 months.

The reaction of the head of Tesla and SpaceX to the publication turned out to be extremely laconic. In his message, Musk limited himself to a short phrase: "Dario is right." A few hours later, Altman also supported this idea, stating that his company would implement one of the precautionary measures proposed by Amodei. "I agree with Dario that we need to move gradually," Altman wrote on X, noting that this issue had been the main topic of discussion at OpenAI in recent weeks.

Altman had previously called for slowing down the development of artificial intelligence. In a post on August 18 on the X platform, he said that OpenAI had suspended some advanced AI training methods in order to ensure compliance with standards as the technologies improve.
