Trump says he is switching from Iran to Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump said he is switching from the conflict in the Middle East to a settlement in Ukraine.
"Now special attention will be paid to Ukraine <...>. Now we will look there. We were focused on Iran, which will now be on the (second. — Ed. note) plan," he said at a meeting with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
The White House chief stressed that he will do everything possible to end the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv. He added that Ukraine is suffering huge human losses.
On Sunday, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held a telephone conversation and discussed the situation with the settlement. They agreed on an imminent visit by special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to Russia.
The American leader said he is ready to influence European partners and Kyiv, including at the G7 summit in France, to stop the hostilities.
Putin and Trump also noted that recent strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on civilian targets on Russian territory are hindering the peace process.
