Rubinyan advised the opposition to dissolve itself and not take mandates

Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan stated that opposition forces challenging the results of the parliamentary elections should not receive deputy mandates.

At a briefing on Tuesday he expressed the opinion that the opposition should dissolve itself, News-Armenia reports.

"We initially believed that the registration of these forces should have been canceled because they were engaged in distributing electoral bribes," Rubinyan said at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, the ruling force is not interested in canceling the election results.

"As for the election results, we do not want the elections to be canceled, because the parliamentary majority is legitimate, our votes are legitimate, and we will form a government," Rubinyan said.

The CEC of Armenia on Sunday, June 14, presented the final results of the elections to the National Assembly held on June 7. Eighteen political forces participated in the elections.

According to the final data from the CEC, the ruling Civil Contract party received 49.745% of the votes and 64 deputy mandates, the opposition bloc Strong Armenia — 23.271% and 29 mandates, the opposition bloc Armenia — 9.923% and 12 mandates.

Another opposition force — the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) — received 3.989% of the votes, failing to overcome the minimum threshold of 4%.

It later became known that the CEC invalidated the voting results at three polling stations.
