Trump: I have never cared about a change of power in Iran
Rational people stand at the head of Iran; the United States is pleased to negotiate with them.
This was stated by U.S. President Donald Trump while answering questions from journalists on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in France.
"You are talking about regime change. I have never cared about a change of power [in Iran]. It has never been part of my plans, <...>. The first group [of Iranian leaders] — all are dead, the second group — also dead. Part of the third group has left, and we are dealing with people who, in my opinion, are very rational. It is pleasant to deal with them. These are strong and smart people. I think that in fact they are smarter than the first and second groups, they are not radicalized and strive to help their country. So, I repeat, I do not believe in regime change, and I have observed regime changes [around the world] for many years. It has never worked," the head of state said.
He added that Iran was previously led by "completely irrational people, and these people are now gone." "I think that Iran now has rational leadership," the president concluded.
