Two candidates for deputies arrested in Armenia, another placed under house arrest
Two candidates for deputies from the "Strong Armenia" bloc — Ruslan Barsegyan and Ashot Yegiazaryan — have been arrested in Armenia.
Another candidate, Asatur Kocharyan from the "Armenia" bloc, has been placed under house arrest.
Barsegyan has been detained for two months. Yegiazaryan has also been arrested. According to the Investigative Committee, he has been charged with complicity in giving and receiving an electoral bribe.
Recall that on June 17, the Central Election Commission granted the prosecutor's petitions to strip Asatur Kocharyan, Ruslan Barsegyan, and Ashot Yegiazaryan of their immunity.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia appealed to the CEC with a petition for permission to initiate criminal prosecution against the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, as well as candidates for deputies Asatur Kocharyan and Ruslan Barsegyan.
