Axios: US ready to partially unblock Iran's assets
The Washington administration expects that Iran will agree to allow UN inspectors access to its nuclear facilities.
The United States is prepared to grant Tehran access to part of its previously frozen assets in exchange, Axios reported.
According to its sources, "the US would like Iran, following the first round of negotiations, to invite UN inspectors to its nuclear facilities that were subjected to bombing by the United States and Israel." "In response, the US is ready to provide Iran access to part of its frozen funds, starting with the $6 billion account in Qatar," the publication specifies. According to the portal, the Iranian side may use these funds to purchase essential goods.
Technical consultations between the US and Iran are expected to take place in Burgenstock on June 21. Representatives of Pakistan and Qatar will also participate.
US Vice President JD Vance previously stated that issues concerning Iran's nuclear program and a ceasefire in Lebanon will be among the main topics at the upcoming negotiations.
