And the Ukrainian ambassador refused Poland's state award
Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar refused the Polish Knight's Cross against the backdrop of Polish President Karol Nawrocki depriving Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.
"I am forced to return the Knight's Cross of the Order 'For Merit to the Republic of Poland'," he wrote on Facebook. He called the decision to deprive Zelensky of the award "historically unjust."
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and head of Zelensky's office Kyrylo Budanov refused state awards received from Polish authorities.
Earlier, Polish President Karol Nawrocki announced that he had decided to deprive Zelensky of the republic's highest state award - the Order of the White Eagle - in connection with the latter's decision to award the name of "UPA heroes" (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) to one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
