Japan raises cost of visas for foreigners 5 times
Japan from July is raising the cost of single-entry and multiple-entry visas for foreign citizens approximately five times.
Single-entry visa will rise from 3 thousand yen (about $19) to 15 thousand yen (about $93). Multiple-entry — from 6 thousand yen (about $38) to 30 thousand yen (about $186).
This is the first increase in visa fees since 1978. Authorities explain the decision by inflation and the weakening of the yen. Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated that he does not expect a noticeable impact on the tourist flow. According to him, the new tariffs will bring Japanese visa fees closer to the level of other countries of the "Group of Seven."
