Graparak: Three candidates nominated for parliament speaker post
The new Armenian parliament has not yet been formed, but the ruling Civil Contract (CC) party is already choosing the speaker of the National Assembly.
As last time, this will be done in the CC board, and then the candidacy will be presented to the parliamentary faction, writes the newspaper Graparak.
The nomination stage has already begun. At the moment, the publication writes, 3 candidates have been nominated — current parliament speaker Alen Simonyan, deputy speaker Ruben Rubinyan and deputy Hayk Konjoryan. Although the candidacy of former Armenian ambassador to the US Lilit Makunts was also considered during the pre-election period, she did not nominate her candidacy, and no one nominated her. In CC they say that, taking into account Pashinyan's pre-election rhetoric and the composition of the new parliament, Makunts' candidacy has lost relevance, since a soft, correct, politically not so hardened lady clearly will not pull this position. The board will make a choice between the three above-mentioned candidates.
As the newspaper's sources claim, A. Simonyan is confident that Pashinyan sees him in this post, and he also says this in his circle.
