Trump criticizes senators who supported resolution on Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the adoption of the resolution limiting his military powers was untimely and pointless, and that the senators who supported it thereby provided assistance to Washington's opponents.

"These senators have only made my job more difficult, but I will manage, one way or another, because I always manage," Trump wrote Wednesday on the Truth Social network.

The American leader stressed that Tehran is now ready to give Washington "practically everything, for the first time in decades showing respect for the United States and its president."

He added that the vote on the resolution, which calls on him to stop using U.S. armed forces to conduct hostilities against Iran, was "untimely and pointless."

According to the president, the senators who voted for the resolution "are providing aid and comfort to the enemy."

Earlier, the U.S. Senate approved by a 50-48 vote the joint resolution already passed by the House of Representatives calling on Trump to cease using American armed forces to conduct hostilities against Iran.

This resolution is joint, meaning it is passed by both chambers of the U.S. Congress, but it does not have the status of law and does not require the president's signature.

Among those supporting the initiative were four Republican senators: Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Bill Cassidy. On the Democratic side, only John Fetterman voted against the resolution.

On Tuesday evening, Trump said he was satisfied with the progress of negotiations with Iran. In addition, the U.S. president again assured that his goal is to ensure that Iran never has nuclear weapons.
