EU will support Armenia if Russia raises gas prices
The European Union is ready to support Armenia in the event of a possible increase by Russia in prices for natural gas supplied to the country.
This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking with a joint statement with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
"As for energy, Armenia needs a strategic and multi-level approach. Just as we help the country diversify trade, we want to contribute to the diversification of energy supply sources. Already next week, a group of EU experts will visit Armenia," von der Leyen said.
According to her, the European Union already has significant experience in the field of diversification of energy supplies and intends to invest in strengthening the energy security of the South Caucasus, as well as in the development of new energy exchange routes.
"We are talking about investments in the amount of 25 million euros. In addition, we support Armenia in the development of renewable energy, which also contributes to strengthening the country's energy security," the head of the European Commission emphasized.
