NATO agrees to allocate 70 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine in 2026 and 2027

Ukraine will receive from its Western NATO and EU partners 140 billion euros in 2026 and 2027 — 70 billion per year — for military assistance, including the 60 billion euros already promised by the European Union.

The decision will be officially announced at the Alliance summit in Ankara.

This amount includes 60 billion euros in loans from the EU (30 billion annually), as well as about 40 billion euros per year from European NATO countries and Canada.

After Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the United States has stopped direct funding of Ukraine, so the main financial burden has fallen on Europe and Canada.

At the same time, Washington continues to provide intelligence data and supply weapons, including Patriot missiles, purchased with European funds.

Germany advocated extending the allies’ commitments, while France rejected the proposal to calculate contributions as a share of GDP, stating that it supports Ukraine in other ways, including participating in the creation of security guarantees together with the United Kingdom.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will take part in the summit events and again intends to call on allies to increase supplies of air defense systems, primarily Patriots, against the backdrop of intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.
