Pakistan's Supreme Court has ruled to transfer former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is serving a sentence on corruption charges, from prison to a hospital for health reasons.

This was reported by the local television channel Geo.

According to its information, the politician will be sent to the Shifa hospital for medical examination and treatment until the next hearing. The court also ordered the authorities to provide the former prime minister's complete medical record and asked the opposition party Movement for Justice not to politicize the issue of its leader's health.

In February, lawyers for former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan filed a petition for his release from prison on health grounds. In particular, the vision in the politician's right eye has significantly deteriorated due to a blood clot. The petition also contained a call to suspend the execution of the December 2025 sentence. Under it, the already imprisoned founder of the opposition party Movement for Justice was sentenced to 17 years in prison in a corruption case concerning Khan's understating of the value of state assets — a designer jewelry set and a watch — during his time in power.

Khan headed Pakistan's cabinet from 2018 to 2022. He was removed from office on April 10, 2022, as a result of a vote of no confidence against him in parliament. Since 2023, the politician has been serving a 14-year prison sentence on corruption charges. His wife, Bushra Bibi, received seven years in prison on the same charge.
