Azerbaijan and Romania expand interparliamentary and economic cooperation
A delegation led by the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, the Aghdere and Khojaly districts, Elchin Yusubov, held meetings in the parliament of Romania.
This was reported by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania.
It is noted that on August 17, the delegation led by Elchin Yusubov, which is on an official visit to Romania, held a number of meetings in that country's parliament.
In the upper house of parliament — the Senate — a meeting was held with the deputy chairman of the ruling National Liberal Party, Senator Glad-Aurel Varga.
During the meeting, the development of bilateral relations, interregional cooperation, and issues of mutual interest were discussed.
Senator Glad-Aurel Varga noted the existence of historical friendly and close partnership relations between Romania and Azerbaijan, stating his readiness to provide appropriate support at the parliamentary level to the development of interregional economic and investment ties. He also emphasized that relations between the parliaments of the two countries are developing with positive dynamics, and invited the Azerbaijani side to cooperate with the Arad region, which he represents.
Elchin Yusubov informed Senator Glad-Aurel Varga about the agreements reached within the framework of his visit to the Romanian region of Maramureș.
He also spoke about the large-scale restoration and construction work being carried out by Azerbaijan at its own financial expense in the territories of the Karabakh region liberated from occupation, including infrastructure projects and the opportunities created for foreign investors.
Elchin Yusubov expressed gratitude to the Romanian side for the attention shown and invited Senator Glad-Aurel Varga to visit Khankendi.
In addition, in the Chamber of Deputies of the parliament, the delegation held a meeting with the deputy chairman of the ruling Social Democratic Party, deputy and co-chairman of the parliamentary friendship group between Azerbaijan and Romania from the Romanian side, Marian Neacșu, as well as deputy Radu Oprea.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on interparliamentary relations and planned events.
Marian Neacșu called Azerbaijan a reliable partner of Romania, recalling his visit to Azerbaijan as part of a Romanian delegation three years ago and his reception by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
He emphasized the importance of developing an action plan for the effective development of economic cooperation, organizing mutual visits, and implementing joint projects.
Elchin Yusubov invited Marian Neacșu to visit Karabakh. M. Neacșu thanked him for the invitation and promised to visit Azerbaijan, in particular Karabakh, in the near future.
