Zakharova: Statements by Russians placed on wanted list in Baku do not reflect Russia's position
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that remarks by Russian citizens placed on the wanted list in Azerbaijan have no bearing on Moscow's position in bilateral relations with Baku.
The full text of the comment was published on Tuesday, August 18, on the foreign policy agency's website in connection with the decision by Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office to place three journalists from Russia on the international wanted list.
The individuals in question are Ivan Knyazev, Semyon Uralov, and Alexey Chadayev, against whom a criminal case has been opened in Azerbaijan over public calls for the violent alteration of the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, violation of its territorial integrity, incitement of ethnic hatred and hostility, as well as public calls for terrorism.
The diplomatic agency emphasized that the opinions of these private individuals cannot be regarded as reflecting the Kremlin's official line toward Azerbaijan. Zakharova's comment notes that Moscow remains committed to constructive dialogue with Baku, and that the statements of those on the wanted list remain their personal position.
