Three Azerbaijani wrestlers reach the semifinals of the world championship
Three Azerbaijani wrestlers have reached the semifinals of the U-20 World Championship being held in the Slovak capital, Bratislava.
As AZERTAC reports, in the Greco-Roman wrestling competitions, Ayhan Javadov (60 kg) defeated French athlete Magomed Varayev 9:0 in the round of 16, and in the quarterfinals he overcame Brazilian Pedro Henrique de Souza Rodrigues 6:2. In the semifinals he will face Iranian Amirali Heydari.
Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) defeated Georgian Luka Pipia and Japanese Rondo Kodama 8:0. In the quarterfinals, our representative outdid Uzbekistan's Bekmurod Rustamov on the principle of the first point scored (1:1). In the semifinals the athlete will face Belarusian Kirill Valevsky.
In women's wrestling, Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) reached the semifinals, defeating Turkish athlete Ilayda Cini by "fall." She will compete for a place in the final against India's Tanu Sharma.
Esra Mammadli (53 kg) lost to Kazakhstan's Dinara Dauylkyzy 1:7 in the qualification stage.
