Chadayev, adviser to head of Russia's Ministry of Transport, resigns after being placed on wanted list in Azerbaijan
Alexey Chadayev, an adviser to Russia's minister of transport who had previously made statements of an anti-Azerbaijani nature, has announced his departure from his post.
"I have decided to relinquish my powers as adviser to Russia's minister of transport," Chadayev wrote on his Telegram channel.
On August 17, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office placed Chadayev, as well as journalists Ivan Knyazev and Semyon Uralov, on the international wanted list. A criminal case has been opened against them over public calls for the violent change of Azerbaijan's constitutional order, violation of the country's territorial integrity, incitement of national hatred and enmity, as well as public calls for terrorism.
On August 18, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov. The diplomat was presented with a strong protest over recent provocative statements in Russian media directed at Azerbaijan and its leadership.
