Pashinyan promised to stop any attempts to continue the 'Karabakh movement'
The ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" lobby in the US Congress is conducting initiatives aimed at reviving the so-called "Karabakh movement," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a briefing, commenting on the activation in Azerbaijan of the topic of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands on the territory of present-day Armenia.
In particular, he added, with the support of the ARFD lobby, the US Congress intends to adopt a statement on the safe return of Armenians to Karabakh. In essence, Pashinyan stated, this means "the continuation of the Karabakh movement."
"As long as this continues, and as long as there are Karabakh flags in the parliament meeting hall (meaning the flags of the former Armenian separatist entity in Karabakh – ed.), this discourse will continue in a mirror image in Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
Such initiatives, he added, will not have practical significance as long as he is in power, and all attempts to continue the "Karabakh movement" will be stopped.
"The people voted against this, and we will consider any such attempts as an attempt to drag the people of Armenia into a new adventure. The meaning of our agreements is that Armenia and Azerbaijan should leave each other alone - in the sense that Armenia should not continue the Karabakh movement, and Azerbaijan should not take actions related to this logic," Pashinyan stated.
Earlier, "Dashnaktsutyun" announced the detention of two of its activists when trying to install the flag of the non-existent separatist entity in the center of Yerevan - on France Square. For three days, at the direct instruction of the Yerevan municipality, these flags are being removed from France Square, but young Dashnaks are installing them again.
