Pashinyan says which issues in relations with Baku require resolution

Determining the fate of missing persons and cooperation in the field of demining remain on the agenda of relations between Yerevan and Baku following the establishment of peace.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this from the rostrum of the United Nations General Assembly, Sputnik Armenia reports.

He added that Armenia is ready to continue deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan on the issue of demining.

"Armenia is ready to continue and deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan on demining issues," Pashinyan said.

In his opinion, along with these unresolved issues, another reason fueling pessimistic sentiment is the periodic use of confrontational rhetoric in certain circles in Armenia and Azerbaijan, and sometimes at the official level.

"I believe that we, that is, Armenia and Azerbaijan, have achieved more than sufficient results, which should be far more valuable to us than the use of conflict rhetoric, regardless of whether it concerns history, historical and cultural monuments or anything else. Strengthening peace, developing it and institutionalizing peace should become the main topic of cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.

On August 8, 2025, following a meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan, with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, a declaration was adopted on the initialing by the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers of an agreed text of an agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between the two countries. The Armenian side also agreed to cooperate with Washington and third parties to create the "Trump Route." This route entails unblocking transport links between the main territory of Azerbaijan and its exclave, the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, through the territory of Armenia.
