Ukrainian armed forces hit oil refineries in Tatarstan and Saratov, compressor station in Kuban and military airfield in Voronezh - VIDEO
Ukrainian military attacked oil and military facilities in several regions of Russia on the night of July 8.
The Saratov oil refinery of Rosneft, the Krasnodarskaya compressor station, the military airfield in Borisoglebsk 230 km from Voronezh, as well as two oil tankers near Taganrog and a petrochemical plant in Nizhnekamsk came under attack.
According to Saratov Governor Roman Busargin, the raid resulted in "damage to civilian infrastructure facilities," one person was killed and several others injured. He did not report the strike on the refinery, but footage of the alleged attack on the facility appeared in Ukrainian monitoring channels.
Astra confirms the strike on the Saratov refinery and the fire there. It is one of the oldest refineries with a processing capacity of about 4.8 million tons; it had previously been attacked on May 31.
In Tatarstan, judging by footage from eyewitnesses, a major fire also broke out at one of the oil facilities.
According to Supernova, the Nizhnekamsk refinery Taneko (Tatneft) with an annual capacity of 16.2 million tons was hit.
Exilenova+ claims the strike targeted one of Russia's largest petrochemical complexes, Nizhnekamskneftekhim (Sibur). Both plants had been targeted by Ukrainian drones on June 12. Republican authorities did not report any hits. Footage from Nizhnekamsk shows several fire outbreaks.
The Krasnodarskaya compressor station in Kuban was also attacked overnight, Astra reports.
This is a strategic Gazprom linear production complex that provides purification, drying and compression of natural gas for subsequent transportation along main routes, including the Blue Stream pipeline and the internal Jubga — Lazarevskoye — Sochi system. The Krasnodar Krai operations headquarters confirmed that "debris" from a drone fell in the village of Smolenskaya in the Seversky district, where the station is located. "As a result, a fire broke out on the territory of one of the enterprises," authorities said.
In addition, Ukrainian forces struck the Borisoglebsk military airfield in Voronezh region, which hosts Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM combat aircraft and others. A fire broke out at the facility, according to footage from local residents. It is also used as a training airfield for the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots.
In Rostov region, "about seven dozen drones" were shot down overnight, Governor Yuri Slyusar said. According to him, drones attacked two oil tankers in the Taganrog Bay that were heading to Rostov. The vessels were damaged; two people were also injured. "Both victims refused hospitalization. The crew had to be evacuated from one of the vessels. The tankers were empty, no oil products spilled," Slyusar said.
The vessels were probably traveling from Crimea, where they could have been delivering fuel. Over the past two days, Ukrainian drones have already hit 10 similar tankers in the Sea of Azov.
