Vance says talks with Iran are complicated by a split within its government
Talks with Tehran are proceeding with difficulty because the government in Iran is split, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said in an interview with Fox News.
"The reality is that, first of all, the Iranians are extremely difficult people," Vance said.
"Second, they have a broken system, so there are people in their system who want the war to end. There are also people in their system who are crazy radicals who want the war to continue," he noted.
Vance specified that his task is to "deal with this and achieve the best result not only for the American people, but also for the president of the United States."
He emphasized that this will not be "easy" and will take time.
However, according to the vice president's forecasts, in the end "Iran will never have nuclear weapons, and the United States will find itself in a stronger position."
Vance added: "I can tell you with confidence that everything will work to the benefit of the United States of America, but we are going to use all the tools we have, military, economic, diplomatic, to make sure that we arrive at the right solution."
