IDF announces the elimination of four Hamas commanders in northern Gaza
One company commander and three platoon commanders of the Palestinian movement Hamas were killed in the area of the al-Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
This was reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on its official Telegram channel.
According to the Israeli side's statement, the eliminated commanders were planning attacks on IDF servicemen located in the Gaza Strip. The army claims that before the strike was carried out, measures were taken to reduce the risk to the civilian population, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial reconnaissance data. The strike was carried out on August 18.
Earlier, on August 17, Israel's Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir called for strikes on the Gaza Strip and stated the need to kill dozens of people every day. He also spoke in favor of restoring Jewish settlements in the strip and supported the idea of establishing full Israeli control over this territory.
On August 9, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the 15-point plan proposed by the U.S. "Board of Peace" for settling the situation in the Gaza Strip. According to him, the withdrawal of Israeli troops will not begin until Hamas is fully disarmed.
