Australian golfer dies at 18 from a brain hemorrhage
Australian golfer Jessica Bang has died at the age of 18 from a brain hemorrhage.
This was reported by the BBC, citing a statement from Australia's professional women's golf tour (WPGA Tour of Australasia).
On August 1, the athlete was preparing for a tournament in Thailand when she suddenly fell ill. She was rushed to a hospital in Bangkok and underwent surgery. She spent almost two weeks in intensive care, but died on Thursday, August 14.
"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the entire Australian golf community are with Jessica's family, her friends and all who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time," the statement said.
On a GoFundMe page created by Bang's cousins after her hospitalization, family members wrote: "This news has broken our hearts. The funds raised will be given to her parents to help cover medical expenses."
Bang turned professional at the end of 2025. In early 2026, she claimed her first victory at the regional qualifying tournament for the 2026 Ford Women's NSW Open, which was only her fifth professional start.
