Iran, Gaza, Mecca agreement: Erdogan and Trump spoke by phone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency, the conversation covered bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States, as well as regional and global issues.
President Erdogan noted that amid tensions between Iran and the United States, it is important to make maximum use of the opportunities offered by diplomacy. He expressed hope for the continuation of the negotiations and stated that Turkey would continue to support peace efforts.
During the conversation, Erdogan also stated that Turkey, together with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which have signed the Joint Defense Agreement, is demonstrating a firm stance in ensuring regional stability and security.
Speaking about the peace process in Gaza, Erdogan noted that at a time when the transition to the second stage of the process is planned, there has been an intensification of actions by the Israeli leadership directed against the Palestinians. He emphasized that Turkey would continue to support the establishment of a lasting peace in the region and steps toward the reconstruction of Gaza.
