Qarabag starts new season of Azerbaijani championship with a win

Agdam's Qarabag defeated Shamakhi in a first-round match of the 2026/27 season of Azerbaijan's Misli Premier League. The game at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku ended 3:1 in favor of the home team.

Qarabag player Renaldo Sefas opened the scoring in the 28th minute. In the 43rd minute, Edgar Adilkhanov equalized, sending the teams into the break at 1:1.

In the second half, the Agdam side went ahead again thanks to an own goal by Shamakhi player Ricardo Apolinario in the 59th minute. Aleksey Kashchuk set the final result in the 84th minute.

This game concluded the program of the opening round of the championship. In other first-round matches, Turan Tovuz beat Gabala (1:0), Sabah proved stronger than Kapaz (2:0), Neftchi outplayed Sumgayit (3:1), Zira defeated Shafa (2:0), and the meeting between Araz-Nakhchivan and Imishli ended in a goalless draw (0:0).
