Trump said Kim Jong Un agreed to talks
U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth to significantly scale back the joint military exercises with South Korea. Trump also stated that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un responded with agreement to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to hold talks.
The American leader wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.
Such maneuvers send a «completely inappropriate and hostile signal» to the DPRK, Trump wrote, recalling his «very good relations» with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
According to the head of the White House, the joint exercises are too expensive, with the main financial burden borne by the United States. Trump noted that it is already too late to cancel the current maneuvers entirely, which is why he instructed the defense secretary specifically to reduce their scale.
