Israel and the U.S. agree on disarming Hamas before the withdrawal of IDF troops
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President's chief adviser Jared Kushner have reached an agreement on the complete demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas prior to the full withdrawal of Israeli troops.
The agreement was reached during a four-hour meeting devoted to the implementation of the Board of Peace plan. According to sources, the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave will begin only after the Hamas movement surrenders its weapons throughout the entire territory of the enclave. In the first stage, the weapons will be handed over to the commander of the International Stabilization Forces, General Jasper Jeffers, under U.S. supervision, and the movement is required to demonstrate concrete steps within the coming weeks.
Israel insists on maintaining the IDF's presence along the "yellow line" and on its intention to suppress any security threats. The meeting was held in a positive spirit, while the Israeli side emphasized its rejection of conditions conducive to the creation of a Palestinian state. In addition, the parties agreed on joint measures to prevent a sanitary and environmental catastrophe in the enclave.
