Five years have passed since the death of journalists killed by a mine in Kalbajar

Today, June 4, is the day of remembrance for Azerbaijani journalists Siraj Abyshov and Magerram Ibrahimov, who died in 2021 after detonating a mine in the Kalbajar district.

AzTV State Television Channel operator Siraj Abyshov and AZERTAC State News Agency employee Magerram Ibrahimov died while performing their professional duties.

On the morning of June 4, 2021, a vehicle carrying employees of television channels and news agencies who had been assigned to the Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan detonated an anti-tank mine on the road toward the village of Susuzlug.

As a result, AzTV television channel operator Siraj Abyshov, AZERTAC news agency employee Magerram Ibrahimov, and Deputy Representative of the Kalbajar District Executive Authority for the administrative-territorial district of the village of Susuzlug Arif Aliyev were killed. In addition, four other people sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.

On June 16, 2021, by order of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Abyshov Siraj Abysh oglu, Aliyev Arif Agalar oglu, and Ibrahimov Magerram Ali oglu were awarded the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" of the 3rd degree.
