Diplomatic relations are being established between Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Sylvie Baipo-Temon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans Abroad of the Central African Republic, within the framework of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

As AZERTAC reports, the sides discussed the prospects of bilateral relations, emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening Azerbaijan's ties with African countries, as well as expanding cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, educational, and scientific spheres. In addition, issues of interaction within the framework of the UN, the African Union, and other multilateral platforms were considered.

The ministers noted with satisfaction that students from the Central African Republic are making use of Azerbaijan's educational scholarship programs intended for citizens of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.

In order to formalize the new diplomatic ties, the ministers signed the "Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic."

This historic document opens a new page in relations and creates a solid foundation for expanding bilateral contacts in the coming years.
