Number of Ebola virus infection cases in DRC rises to 710
The number of laboratory-confirmed cases of Ebola fever in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reached 782, with 181 people having died.
This was reported by the Congolese Ministry of Communications and Media.
Never since the beginning of the current Ebola outbreak has such a significant increase in the number of infected and deceased been recorded - 32 people died in the past 24 hours, 72 fell ill. Ebola patients have been identified in two more districts of the Ituri and North Kivu provinces.
The current Ebola fever outbreak occurred in eastern DR Congo on May 15. Its epicenter is in Ituri province. There are cases of illness and death from Ebola in neighboring Uganda.
