Russian foreign ministry reveals status of issues regarding AZAL plane crash
Moscow and Baku have settled all issues related to the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near Aktau in December 2024.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in an interview with RTVI.
“You know, we have settled all issues related to the consequences of the crash of the Azerbaijani airliner. But these issues concern, as you understand, specific people who have experienced a severe tragedy, who have suffered an irreparable loss. Therefore, to be honest, I would not like to go into details here,” he said.
Recall that the AZAL Embraer 190 passenger plane, operating the Baku-Grozny flight, crashed in the city of Aktau on December 25, 2024. As a result of the tragedy, 38 people died and another 29 were injured. The circumstances of the incident became the subject of international discussion and investigation.
In April 2026, the foreign ministries of Russia and Azerbaijan issued a joint statement in which they called the situation resolved. In particular, the issue of compensation payments was resolved.
