Eyewitnesses to the incident told local media that due to thick smoke, visibility in the tunnel was almost completely limited. According to passengers, during the evacuation they had to use flashlights from their mobile phones to navigate the space and move independently through the tunnel accompanied by rescue services.
According to a preliminary version, the cause of the fire was the ignition of one of the cladding elements, which came off in the tunnel and caught fire. The final causes of the incident will be established based on the results of an investigation conducted by the competent services.
Due to the incident, city transport services had to temporarily change the public transport traffic pattern. Restrictions affected train traffic on metro lines L1 and L2, as well as a number of bus routes serving this area of the city.
