Netanyahu says Israel will not attack Iran without request from US

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed US President Donald Trump during negotiations that the Jewish state will not strike Iran on its own initiative without a request from Washington.

This was reported by the Associated Press, citing Israeli sources.

According to the agency, Netanyahu also stressed during the conversation with Trump that in the event of an Iranian attack on Israel, the Jewish state reserves the right to carry out retaliatory strikes. The prime minister also told the American leader that Israel will continue to provide the US with new intelligence data on Iran. Netanyahu expressed understanding that Washington has to take into account the positions of US-allied Arab countries in the Middle East in the conflict with Iran. He assured the US president that Israel fully trusts Washington on the Iranian issue and will support any decision by Trump.

Netanyahu described yesterday's meeting with Trump as one of the best ever.

"Excellent meeting. These are not just words. There was an open conversation based on mutual support and understanding of common goals, including ensuring that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. One of the best meetings with the president [Trump]," Netanyahu said in a video address he posted on social media. He noted that "his (Trump's) entire team" was present at the talks, and the sides "had the opportunity to exchange ideas and coordinate important actions for the security and future of Israel."
