IDF destroys Hamas weapons depot in mosque building in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that it struck a weapons depot of the radical Hamas movement located in a mosque building in the Gaza Strip.

"The IDF struck and destroyed several Hamas weapons depots in the central and northern parts of the Gaza Strip. One of the weapons depots in the northern part of the Gaza Strip was located inside a mosque," the military press service said in a statement. The IDF described this as "another example of how terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip use civilian infrastructure for terrorist purposes, storing weapons in the midst of civilian residential areas, including in religious institutions." The press service added that "prior to the strikes, the civilian population was given advance warnings to reduce the risk of harm to them."

According to the Israeli military, the weapons stored in the depots "were intended for use against IDF troops <…> in the Gaza Strip, as well as against Israeli civilians" and "were eliminated to remove the threat."
